  • Q.1 What are CityFORUMS?
    • CityFORUMS are local extensions of PrincipalsFORUM in the cities, to strengthen the spirit and will of the PrincipalsFORUM to ensure that Principals bid for their due role in formulation of educational policies, regulatory frameworks and management issues rather than be at the mercy of managements and Governments.
  • Q.2 Who can one create CityFORUM?
    • Principal of any senior or senior secondary school can create a CityFORUM in his/her city
  • Q.3 Can we have a look at the actual steps to be followed on the computer to create a CityFORUM?
    • You - as the Convener of CityFORUM, Visit http://principals.in/whycityforum.aspx, Existing User - log in or as a New User – register. Computer displays your Dash Board Click Tab –Create New CityFORUM , fill in your school details and details of five other schools in close proximity as the Founding Members. An auto generated mail will reach all
      You - as Founding Member On receipt of auto generated mail, click on the URL in the mail; fill in details as guided. CityFORUM is created once all upload school details
  • Q.4 How does CityFORUM benefit my School?
    • It is a personal, social and professional forum for serving principals of secondary and senior secondary schools in a city to:- Exchange educational, cultural and other programs amongst schools. Discuss challenges and issues in the school contexts and collectively arrive at a way forward Become a collective voice of institutions with common interests and challenges
  • Q.5 Can a City have more than one CityFORUM?
    • In case of Metros and big cities, you would have more than one CityFORUM. The area be divided into number of clusters (each cluster having 6 to 25 schools), based on geographical convenience, each cluster acting as an independent CityFORUM.
      Each CityFORUM would have a unique identity, which is not used by any other. For example, CityFORUM, Lucknow( Gomti Nagar)
  • Q.6 How do the CityFORUMS function?
    • Office Bearers: The principals only need to post their details on the net at www.principals.in and elect, in any manner, from amongst themselves, a chairperson, convener and a treasurer.
      Meetings: Once the CityFORUM has been formed, they meet at any place that the forum may decide. The CityFORUM may meet as often as it is necessary. However, at least one meeting a month would be essential. Upload minutes/progress of the meetings, discussions and activities on www.principals.in.
      CityFORUM will promote and hold discussions, debates, brainstorming sessions to collectively address issues and challenges.
      CityFORUM shall, as a proactive advocacy, also be a collective voice of principals to bring about reforms.
  • Q.7 What all issues can be discussed in the CityFORUMS?
    • Personal & Social:
      Principals leverage each other’s experiences in addressing their personal and social issues. Some of these could be in the form of:-
      • Personal career advancement
      • Improving School Performance
      • Raising financial resources
      • Legal & Personnel Issues
      • Sports & other Competitions
    • Professional:
      Principals deal with a range of issues ranging from legal, regulatory, managerial to instructional, professional development. Some of the areas for mutual benefits could be:

      • Books & stationery
      • Sports and co-scholastic competitions
    • Student Issues
      • Safety & security
      • Integrated Child and Adolescent Health Promotion Centre
      • Managing parents & communities
      • Career counselling
    • Teachers
      • Sharing human & other resources,
      • Recruitment
      • Training – sharing talented pool of experts
      • Mentoring newly appointed staff
      • Motivating & retaining experienced staff

    • Disaster Management – Assistance, rescue operations

  • Q.8 Are there any financial liabilities on the members of a CityFORUM?
    • CityFORUM may decide to contribute any amount, as may decide and open a separate account therefor. All expenses of the forum may be met out of funds so contributed by the members. No fee of any description is required to be paid to either PrincipalsFORUM or any other body.
      The financial implications if any, to conduct the activities of the CityFORUM may be decided jointly. However, it must be kept in mind that these are purely voluntary and solely to be used for promoting activities related to CityFORUM.
