Fewer schools teach science
he authorities may want more scientists but the opportunity for studying science at school level seems to be dismally limited. Less than a third of schools offer the subject at the higher-secondary (Classes XI and XII) level across the country. Only 30.07% high schools in India offer the science stream and only in 11 states/union territories .....

Soon, special helpline for school admissions
Education minister Manish Sisodia is all set to launch a helpline to redress grievances related to school admissions. The dedicated helpline will work under the direct supervision of the minister and will be made functional around the time admission process starts. This is seen as the new government's first move to end the culture of "donations" and prevent corruption at any stage of the admission process. ....

Centre mulls $3 billion fund for Muslims' education
The Centre on Saturday said it will soon announce a special fund to the tune of $3 billion for uplift of the Muslim people by providing infrastructure, mainly for education. "We need infrastructure. Indian Muslims need education and for that we need infrastructure. Currently we lack in infrastructure," Union minister for minority affairs K Rahman Khan said here....
